Campus Activity

The campus activity that i attended was the farmers market. I have gone to the farmers market two times since i have been here. What i did at the farmers market was basically walk around and look at everything that is set out. There is so much stuff to look at it is amazing. There is so much food there to, but its better than food. It seems that everything you get from there is awesome when you eat it. In my home town of Great Falls we have the farmers market to and i think it is pretty similar, but the farmers market here is way bigger. I personally think the farmers market is pretty cool i went a lot back home and going to this one seems way better because there is much more merchandise. Another thing i really liked about the farmers market was the location, it is a perfect location for the event. When i was walking around i was trying to find the didgeridoo's because my anthropology teacher always talks about them. He even had some girls from the didgeridoo club come in and play a whole bunch of music and sounds. I have tried to play a didgeridoo and it is harder than it looks. They learn how to breath out there nose so they can get full circular breathing. The ones i saw had some pretty cool designs on them. The culture that the didgeridoo is from is Austrialian. To me it deminstrated that the musicians playing them are very talented. All you could hear when they were playing was animal noises it was really cool. A lot of the things my anthropology teacher talks about is multicultural and he always talks about artifacts from other countries and at the farmers market there is a lot of that. There are blankets, jewelry, clothes, and so much handmade merchandise. There is more than that not just man made artifacts there is foods from other cultures that is really tasty. My mom would usually go to the farmers market every week. She would always buy the best breads, and pastries. She would always get weird jewelry there too. The main reason i think people go to the farmers market is because the prices are so cheap its unreal. Everything there is cheap and it is always a great deal. If you go down all the way there are tables of pipes and other tabacco products. There were actually a lot of people smoking weed around me which i thought was kind of funny because there are so many hippies here. The age range of the people who run the little individual markets is all over i see college students, adults, and the elderly working there. Its good to see that a lot of the students from UM participate in the farmers market. Next Fall i will definatly attend the farmers market here and this summer i will definatly go in great falls because my mom always goes, but its worth it besides the early hours you have to get up to go to it but thats not a huge problem. So for the most part the farmers market is an awesome thing to go to when you have nothing better to do. I would recommend it to anyone to go there because its a real pleaser. If you want to enjoy a good walk and look at some pretty cool stuff, and maybe get a good bite to eat go to the farmers market. Where else can you go and get so much out of it than there, i can't think of many places that do.

Major Choice

Currently i am undecided on my major to be honest i dont know what I am going to do. I dont think it is a bad thing but i just have really decided. There are so many things out there to do and i am just not sure yet. I have been leaning towards health and human performance and becoming a health teacher or a personal trainer and strength coach, but i could change my mind and do something completely different. I know right now that i want to spend my future in my home town of Great Falls because it is simply home. So i want to find something that works good for me there. I am really thinking hard right now about my major choice but i dont think i have taken the classes yet to get me there hopefully next semester i will like my classes a little better and i will become interested in something that fits me. I assume i will have my major picked out by the end of the year or til the start of next year, but if it takes me longer than that so be it. I didnt realize before as much as now that your major choice is one of the biggest decisions you have to make in your life so you have to put a tremendous amount of thought in it.

what am i passionate about

There are so many things i am passionate about i couldnt tell you all of them but i will state a few. I am really passionate about friends and family because i know without them i prolly wouldnt be as far as i am right now. Like i said in previous blogs family means the world to me and nothing can change that. Another thing that i am passionate about is sports like i also said in previous blogs sports are a big part of my life because i like to be active and run around. A lot of people who know me can say that i am pretty competitive because i hate losing. I dont know why i am like this but i just am losing as a whole sucks. Passion is a very strong word and there are so many things in life that i have a passion for. I think everything you do in life has a passion or needs passion in order for for it to work. Everything u complete in life requires passion. Passion is a beautiful thing.

You are what you do

I would describe myself as a fun outgoing person who likes to just live life one day at a time. I dont really like to look to far ahead because ill just get off track. Taking it one day at a time is perfect for me. I am a family person and i can say that i am pretty good with kids. I have 5 nephews 3 of which that i have been with since they were born. I have taught them so much stuff it is unreal and it makes me feel good that they look up to me. i am a sports fanatic i watch and play basically every sport i can. I basically do what i want not to sound like a rebel or anything i just like to make my own decisions for myself because i know it is my life and not anyone elses. The one thing i try not to do is stress out because i know if i get stressed or anyone gets stressed it is just harder on your life. Plus i think a lot of stress takes years off your life and i want to live for a long while. Another thing i dont do is let things get to me so easy like when someone says something bad about me i dont freak out because it is just pointless to get stressed out over small things. I am who i am nothing else.

Topic from class that is personally relevant and interesting

There have been many things that have been very relevant and interesting in some of my classes but right now i would have to say that the most interesting thing i have learned is all of the research that has been done on animals testing emotions and behavior. Also how they act and respond mainly with chimps. It baffles me on the fact how they are so smart and act just like humans. There are even some chimps that can sign to interpreters which is amazing. Jane Goodall has had a huge effect on the study of chimps and everything about them. Another thing that has been very relevant is some of the writings we have done is English class. We have done a lot of writing on expressing our opinions which i believe is one of my favorite types of writing. It is really interesting and kind of amazing on how educated some of these professors are and how much they know about that type of field. I would have to say that i am learning a lot of knew concepts in college.

biggest issue facing college students today

I really don't think there is just one big issue facing college students today i think there are several. First i think a big issue as a freshman is making new friends and meeting new people. it is hard for a lot of people because they had so many great memories in high school and don't really realize that you have to move on. Another issue that i think is pretty pick among college students is picking a major. it is so hard because what you pick is most likely what you are going to do for the rest of your life and its kind of weird to think about. I still haven't picked my major and i really have no clue what i want to do there are so many things out there to do. I love so many things that it is almost impossible to choose but i am sure it will come to me sometime in the next few years. College as a whole is a big change for everyone. it is so much more different that high school it is crazy. when u finally go to college you realize that there actually is a world out there and it is a real big world. There are so many opportunities out there for everyone. You just gotta live and let it happen.

gender issues

I thought the discussion was very good and interesting. I liked how we got to talk for our selves and let our opinion be heard throughout the class. I thought the class participation was really cool because it got everyone involved in the discussion. He has some very good topics that we talked about. I didn't really disagree with what anyone said because it was there and opinion and i respect that fact that everyone has there own opinion. I thought that some of the things people had to say were pretty funny. There were some pretty funny stories going around, but i would have to say that i agreed with pretty much everything he had to say because he did prove some good points. If we had a speaker like this again i would enjoy listening to them speak. I didn't realize at first how big of a topic gender issues is but there is a lot of things he brought up that i didn't know so he brought a lot of new information to the table to me.
